Better late than never.

And to answer THE question ..........
The most difficult and time consuming is done and ........
when it´s ready.

WOW,
I must admit I know nothing about repaints but it doesn't take a genius to see what a huge amount of labour this one must have been.
Well done Pipe!!

It´s not over yet. But unlike painting four month all in black and white and tedious pixel spotting, it starts to get interesting and colorful from here.

A psychological boost.

Update:

Structure is done. Now comes the art work. (And I can´t see any rivets anymore. )

Awesome, It has been a very long wait but I'm happy there has been progress. Unfortunately I have lost my LOT polish repaint files (that you can see in a thread below) through a hard drive failure. maybe I'll began a second attempt once this paint kit is out.

You´re still about to face the nasty cargo door texture fault, which is especially tricky on the LOT repaint and, in my view, prevents many IL-62 repaints from being done. I wasn´t able to fix that, and trust me, I´ve tried very hard. If somebody has a fix for this, please speak out!

I was able, though, to find many missing textures (fuselage top i.e.) which should cover many once naked spots of that beauty. Also found some go-arounds for annoying offset pixels. A part victory ...

Sadly, the father of this model has vanished in cyberspace.

Yes, please don't remind me . I spent days trying to figure that one out and is one of the reasons I never released it (something I know regret).

This was something I started doing but grew frustrated. So I'm very happy to hear that you did the job (and an amazing one to boot).

Has he? I had no idea. Well that is truly unfortunate as I was hoping for some kind of update in the future. Let's hope someone will decide to begin a new il-62 in the future then. I was going to begin one myself and even purchased this book (http://www.amazon.com/OKB-Ilyushin-History-Design-Aircraft/dp/1857801873/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1217349433&sr=8-1) hoping for some detailed plans and pictures, but didn't really find anything inside.

Oh I have been meaning to ask, I remember seeing the engine covers in the engine texture file. Is there a purpose for them? I don't think I ever found a way for them to show up in the game.

I had the same idea: Doing a new visual model. The lack of detailed and reliable technical data has prevented me so far. But never say never ... Maybe we can join forces?

No idea about the overnight covers. I´ve noticed them, too, but never managed to see them in action either.

There´s more progress with the paintkit: I´ve finished the metal parts of wings, stab and tail. Will send some shots tonight.

How are you Pipe?
I began a TU-154M LOT repaint but I'm really not in the mood.
Ilyushin is where the fun is.

Yep, but I´ve hit a snake on the left wing root and need to find a go-around. (One of so many). That´s why no more pictures so far.
