I found this video recently. It is from 2009 I think.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=EQX8XMSKOMI
It shows a Yakovlev 42 with a virtual cockpit. I never thought one was available for this aircraft but I was clearly wrong in this assumption. I've downloaded the original 2D panel and later versions of this but I didn't realise until I watched this superb video that anyone had a VC for this aircraft.
Anyone know where I can get this from ?

Its actually not a VC, but a clever made camera movement in the 2D cockpit to mimic a 3D cockpit. There is no Yak-42 with VC and most likely there never will be :/

Looking at the video again sLYFa I see what you mean. There are no rotating views in the cockpit, just static images. It's well done though. Shame there might never be a proper VC for this charming aircraft. You would think some developer might do a nice payware version of this aircraft rather than all the obscure GA they churn out.

That's an Ed Cox video.
He makes his own custom panels for the classics, not just the soviet ones.

The chances a payware developer will opt an old soviet plane for a project are virtually zero as the market, in particular the paying market.... , for these kind of aircraft is virtually non existent. Yes, apparently even in comparison to those obscure GA.

Hi friends:

My experience is that still exists a hardcore community for Soviet simplanes even in FS9, as "my tuned up" Tu-s (104, 114 and 124) and some addons for them up to now earned around 10.000 downloads from AVSIM.SU. But nobody payed a dime for that....

So it is not a business plan but interest is still there.
Regarding the YAK 42 some more work would be necessary even in the non VC version. And the Yak 42 as a much more modern design then the Tus 104 to 154, the ILs 18 and 62 and the turboprop Antonovs lacks the interesting navigation systems of these old Soviet airplanes.

HJG also expands its offer of old Western Jetliners and has its active followers still.

So one has to look on that part of aviation simulation as a virtual museum of fascinating parts of human history.

Kind regards

Walter
