Hi guys, well i have a wird kind of problem. I have a 18 warning lights in cockpit written in russia and i would like to translate them. Ofcourse that not a problem at all it's just enough to put russian letters in google translate. Problem is that the warning lights uses shortcuts so Google Translate can't handle them all.

Here's the signs and what i've already handled myself.

1. маркер = Marker
2. конус вырущ.
3. стабилиз. на посад. = Stabilizer on landing
4. тример. зф неитал = Trimer set to neutral
5. зажигание выкп юч.
6. форсаж = afterburner
7. генер. иост. выкл.
8. пожар = fire
9. слели. Давление бустерная системе
10. слели. Давление основная системе
11. створки рс. откр.
12. генер перем выкл = AC Generator OFF
13. вторая форсаж = Second Afterburner
14. расод бак
15. выраб. подф. юз. придбак.
16. 1. гр. баков
17. осталось 450 л. = 450 litres left
18. 3. гр. баков

I may be wrong on Spelling it's a hard for me to know the Cyrillic. So if there were be no supposed meanings it may be my spellings. All signs are from Mig-21MF from http://www.migsim.ic.cz/

Thanks for any help that would be possible.

3. стабилиз. на посад.

That one means stabilizer on landing if I'm not mistaken.

Looking at it again:

3. can be either stabilizer on landing or stabilization on landing (depending on what стабилиз. is short for out of the two).

2. could have something to do with the radar cone dept variation (I must stress that I don't know if a MiG-21 can vary it's cone depth thus increasing the volume of air that goes through the intakes like the SR-71's engines do).

umh well Here's what i got with you and few chaps from Poland that have paper operation manual for real Mig 21.

Control surfaces
1. Marker
2. Cone released
3. Stabilizer set for take off/landing
4. Elevator Trim set to neutral

Engine
5. Ignition Off
6. AfterBurner
7. Generator DC OFF
8. Fire
9. Low Pressure in booster hydraulic system
10. No Fuel Pressure/No Fuel
11. Second stage of afterburner
12. Generator AC OFF
13. Nozzle opened (Guess that's some vent holes that prevent exhaust gases to get too hot.)
14. Low Pressure in main hydraulic system

Fuel
15. External tank used/empty
16. First Group of tanks usage
17. 450l fuel left (15%)

Hi according to pictures seems the cone position is variable:

http://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Datei:MiG_21_SPS_-_Altenburg-Nobitz.jpg&filetimestamp=20090518195748

http://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Datei:Eberswalde-mig-21.jpg&filetimestamp=20051204140238

Like in other planes, which could go faster than speed of sound, it shoud have had a means of air-intake variation.

At the start of T.O. roll the cone was back (nearly ful in). see that:

Kind regards

Walter

Cone fully in for low speed, fully out for supersonic flight from my understanding.

Yes Ken!

To complicate it more: The twoseater seems had another engine therefore cone was more in at T.O.than in the fighter. Хитрый

Kind regards

Ofcourse the cone is movable.... it has to be because of the speed that the aircraft is flying with. Most of the jet fighters has adjustable intakes.

Well afterall my translation is done, and here's the result:

http://www20.zippyshare.com/v/19460553/file.html

You can find few spelling mistakes i guess.

And there's also one small error in the basic flight pdf. On the Take Off chart, there's a sign "Switches: AZS ON" well that means "Switches: All Systems are ON".
