I have always wanted to fly this beast, but for some reason, there only seemed to be mostly traffic models available.
Some attempts were made to put flyable models, panels and gauges together but the Russian developers did not make it easy to sort out the various bits and pieces and put them together.
Found this one on Avsim RUs. The readme file contans a link to the panel.
No VC, but I'm not a big VC fan anyway.
Experience with the other major Russian FS aircraft (Tu-154, Tu-134, etc.) certainly helps.
No English documentation so far.
Manged to get most of the functions to work but still playing with it. Handles like it should (big and heavy) and excellent Soloviev engine sounds are included in the panel download.

Still testing but it flies beautifully.
The autopilot is fully functional but you need to clear the red flag on the horizon.
Needs 80% throttle to maintain speed with gear down and full flaps. Is this normal?
Cannot get the reversers to stay open despite negative settings on the throttles at idle using the joystick configuration module.
Landing lights don't come on. Not sure what the problem is.
Can't get the panel cover (5th photo, bottom right) to open. Must be a panel glitch. Having to start with Ctrl E. |

This aircraft uses PT Il-62 Gauges. On PT-62 Reverser have a special realisation. I think you can read about it in the 62 section of htis forum. |

Sometimes i really wonder, what I am doing wrong. I downloaded the plane, installed it into FS2004 and instead of the panel depicted above, I see all the instruments spread over the whole screen with a completely black background. Same shit for all subpanels. Is there something to consider when installing it? I simply moved the "aircraft" folder into the one from FS2004 and moved the il76 gauges folder into FS2004 gauges folder. But why my "panel" looks so odd then? |

You might need to install Il-62M airplane with gauges. |

As I stated, the gauges are all there. It is just the problem, that the panel is not looking like a panel but a simple black bitmap covering the whole screen with all the gauges spread over it. Meaning that there is no blueish panel bitmap visible although it is in the correct folder... |

Thanks in advance.

Calypso:
Thanks for posting the link to the new IL 76!
Regarding powersetting while flaps and gear down:
80% looks resonable: The Tu 154M needs 82 % gear down and full flaps while at max landing weight for staying on the ILS glideslope at constant speed of 265-270 km/h. For horizontal flight it would be considerable more.
Regarding Stratosaurus question of opening navigators (forward?) view:
Try the same the same way as in Tu 134 Tu124: Shift W
Kind regards

Thank you so much for the help WalterLeo. Also i discovered by myself that the rear cargo doors opens with "open exit" assigned letter +2.
If any person has problems with the panel, i suggest remove it completely and download another Il-76 panel from avsim.su It works perfectly on the aircraft. Simply search and try other options.
Regards from Spain. |

Really nobody an idea why I do not get the panel displayed correctly? Did you all really used the file from avsim.ru? Maybe my download was corrupt or something like that, I already installed 200-300 Planes manually and never had something like that... |

Now I realized it, the panel folder is empty except the panel.cfg when I simply unzipp the file linked here in the first post. Where do I get the panel bitmaps from? Or is there a download, where the panel .bmp files are included? Thanks
EDIT: I found the original "site": http://www.khakassia.ru/~pilot/ILYUSHIN-76/
There I was able to download everything what was missing. Thanks for pointing that one out |
